Short Term Investment Options 101

Looking for some great short term investment options?  The investing world is a huge market.  Investment options are diverse and abundant that we really need to educate our children more about investing and the business world.  A short term investment is an investment that will earn the investor a return in a short amount of time.  How short?  Well it depends on your type of investing.  It could be minutes or a few years.  They usually have a higher payout however; they also sometimes have a higher risk.  There is a huge need for short term investments and investors.  There are many opportunities to make a lot of money quickly.  The biggest risk is not knowing what you are getting into.  People need money quickly these days and there is opportunity to turn it around in very little time.  Here are some basic descriptions of different short term investment options. 

Many people are experienced and informative enough to buy a home and sell it in a short period of time.  These have literally been done in a few days with the proper structuring.  Most of the flipped homes are completed in 30 days, 60 days, 90 days, or in a 1 year, 2 year, or 3 year time period.  Flippers like to flip as soon as possible and make their money.  The rate of returns on flipping can be up into the thousands.

There are many great ideas for businesses that people want to start.  Many of them have the potential to make a ton of money.  Many of them are stopped because they cannot find the funding to start the business.  This short term investment can make very high returns and be back into your hand in a very short time.

Banks usually have and will pay you a small amount of interest to invest your money with them after they are established.  Checking and Savings accounts will pay you very little if any interest.  High-Yield accounts will pay a little more and so will Certificate of Deposits.

The government bills, notes and bonds can be deemed as short term investment options.  Depending on how you look at short term.  They will pay you a modest amount for your investment.  They are secure however; they are not a huge return.

Some other short term investment options are Municipal and Corporate Bonds, stock market investing, commodities and foreign currency. All of these and many others can be termed and structured as short term. The most important tribute to have when investing is knowledge. Many people lose a lot of money in investing and a lot of times this is because they do not know what they are getting into. The absolute best way to reduce your risk is to increase your knowledge until you are prepared to enter a new investing category. There are many books, classes, seminars and websites that are set up to help you gain knowledge about investing.
